Upcycled Shirt Cuff Pouches!

Shirt Cuff Gift Card Holder

These cute little cuffs make great gift card, cash or note holders!

You will need:
  • Button-Up Shirt with cuffs (old men's shirts are fantastic for this project!)
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine or Hand-sewing needles
  • Matching thread
  • Leather, felt or old felted sweater (optional)
  • Burlap, yarn or string (optional)

Cut the cuffs off of the shirt. Make sure that the cuffs are free of stains!

Trim as close as possible to the seam between the cuff and sleeve. Excess material in this area will fray!

Position the cuff so that the button is 1/3 away from the top.

Sew a seam across the top, backstitching at both ends.

Sew a NARROW** seam (close to the outside edges) along the sides and bottom edge of the cuff, backstitching at both ends.

** Narrow seams are important because some cuffs are narrower than others. If your seam is too thick, a gift card will not fit in the opening!

Place your gift card, cash or note inside the pouch. Button the pouch closed.

Cut a heart out of some scrap leather or felt. Cut a small slit in the center of the heart. Place this slit over the button!

To hang on the tree:

Place some string under the top flap (while the flap is buttoned closed). Make a knot at the top and hang on a tree branch!
