Re-purpose your old Tees! Great beginning sewing project for kids - they can use shirts they've grown out of!
You will need:
- T-shirt with a hollow collar - one that doesn't have any seams that would block a safety pin from traveling through it.
- Ruler & Scissors or Cutting Mat & Rotary Cutter
- Sewing machine & Pins
- Safety Pin
Trim the bottom and sides of the shirt until you create a rectangle.
Pin all around the cut edges. This is a knit material so be sure to use plenty of pins!
Sew a 1/4 inch hem around the cut edges. Remember to back stitch at the beginning and end.
Remember the t-shirt material you cut off the bottom of the shirt? Cut off the hem. Discard or use as a headband. Cut off a 1 1/2 inch strip from ABOVE the hem. You may also have some different colored t-shirt material left over from when you made a Tshirt Rope Bone for Fido!
Cut a little hole in the collar of the T-shirt.
Attach a safety pin to one end of your t-shirt strip.
Push the safety pin and strip through the entire collar.
Remove the safety pin and knot the two ends.
Turn bag inside-out.
Done!
