Make your own Recipe Holders out of Vintage Spoons!
Looking for a unique handmade Mother's day gift? Or a quick 'no muss - no fuss' craft for Girl's Night? All you need are some vintage spoons and a glue gun!
I was lucky enough to be given some vintage silver-plated utensils. I've been taking them out, rubbing them with toothpaste and staring at them for almost a year, waiting for crafty inspiration. Yesterday the recipe box was sitting next to the spoons. The light bulb turned on! Vintage Spoon Recipe Holders!
You will need:
Vintage spoons
Glue gun
Find some old spoons. Thrift stores are a great source. Goodwill spoons were only 10 cents each the last time I checked. Pick spoons with relatively thin handles.
Bend the spoon at the natural curve right between the handle and scoop.
Bend again about an inch back from the first bend.
Using a glue gun, draw two lines off the center of the spoon. This will help stabilize the recipe holder.
Let the glue cool.
Prop up a recipe card.
Done!

Oooh Cool! I love how it's so easy to make! I was wondering how you got them to bend... who knew it would be that easy?
ReplyDeleteSo easy! Brute force for the win :-)
DeleteTooooo cute! Absolutely love them.
ReplyDeleteLast year I picked up a whole box of gorgeous vintage spoons. Random patterns. I made some Herb markers for my potting garden. I embossed/ punched the letters into the "spoon" and use the handles to stick into the dirt.
I never thought of making recipe holders out of them. Would be great for holding notes, too.
Thank you for inspiring me!
Hope you will pop over for a visit.
Have a lovely week.
Elizabeth
