I used burlap paper to make these Burlap-Covered Alphabet Magnets! So much easier than using burlap fabric!
- Spray Paint
- Craft Glue
- Magnetic Letters
- Scissors
- X-acto Knife
- Spouncer, Brush, Q-tip or Popsicle Stick
- Inside of a Pen
- Printed Burlap Stack
This printed burlap stack was on sale at Joann's last week. (This is NOT an advert for DCWV!)
The burlap is pasted onto the paper! Makes it stable and reduces fraying edges.
Get out your magnets. Place them FACE DOWN on the BACK (the paper side) of the printed burlap stack.
Take out the ink part of the pen. Now it's skinny enough to get inside each letter! Closely trace around each letter. Fill in any holes.
Take your magnets to a well-ventilated space. Protect your surfaces with newspaper.
Set magnets right side up (magnet side down). Spray with three light coats of paint according to manufacturer's directions. Spray from different angles to make sure that all side edges get coated.
While your magnets are drying, cut out all of the burlap letters. Use an X-acto knife to cut out any center holes.
Use a spouncer, brush or other kind of implement to spread glue on the top of each letter (not the magnet side!).
Gently press the burlap paper letters (burlap side up, paper side down) on to their corresponding magnet letters.
If the burlap edges start to fray, press a small amount of glue to the edge of the burlap.
Let dry.
Wow, great.
